Adam -2- Jesus
The Eden story in xtianity forms the alpha with the Jesus concept the omega, capping in the rest of the bible within the theological travesty that turned Judaism's tribal "history" into a farce of lies and rationalisations. It fails to make sense as it's been re-designed to fit the needs of xtian theology, a hijacked Jewish origin fable, that traps millions today in a fantasy prison, enslaved to the supreme tyranny. It didn't really make sense to start with but now it's a joke. (note. This is written on the assumption of the historical Jesus myth hypothesis, rather than the philosophical for once)
Eve knowingly did wrong by offering the apple to Adam, post bite, but he did nothing wrong in the story, so why was he kicked out as well? He knew he did wrong only after he did it, he couldn't be held responsible for disobeying god before he ate the apple, anymore than eve. But as eve "compounded" the felony she was given a greater punishment, but that still doesn't explain why Adam was expelled. Can only the ignorant live in Eden? If their knowledgeable state is why they were expelled it wasn't as a punishment but because of what they had become, closer to god, and he FEARED they would get even closer by eating from the life-tree which was somehow not mentioned up until then. What if they'd eat from that one first?
The whole story just doesn't hang together, and the idea of original sin also has holes, as the Jews don’t recognise it, and never did. The xtians made it up themselves to give Jesus something to save us from. But that meant adding an extra layer of punishment on the story making it even more illogical. The expelling was the punishment, but carried out through god's fear and the sin of only one of them.
It's an allegory about humanity's coming into knowledge, like the Prometheus legend concerning fire, not an origin myth about a "permanent sin".(Leaving out the fact that seeking knowledge shouldn’t be a bad thing). The punishment was clearly laid out in Genesis, a harsh life in the outside world, birth pain, hard farming etc, so where is this original sin concept? Sure it was the first time we (but not angels) disobeyed HIM, but there's no hint of any metaphysical curse, the term applies literally but not as a great burden which Jesus needed to lift, as there no mention of it in the O.T. Nor is there any sense of imminent wrath from god, or a permanent hell for all, which the xtians also claim he saved us from, (providing you believe he did, because of course if you don’t, then he doesn't).
Also the idea that an innocent can atone for humanity's sin is bunk, no one can atone but the person who sins, and then only with their own offering. It is against the O.T's doctrine, and atonement via blood sacrifice was only for minor or non-deliberate sins, repentance and charity covered the big stuff, with prayer taking over in case of the impossibility of sacrifice. Only specific creatures were suitable, god-men was not one of them, and it goes against the messiah concept that he would be any such thing anyway.
Adam+Eve's sin was personal, the generations to come would have the hardship that comes from not being in Eden and mortal, as they'd inherit the knowledge, seems bad enough to me, but this metaphysical element is overkill, and non-biblical. The babble says the max for inherited sin is 4 generations, but also later say one cannot be punished for the sins of the parents, (all bible-brand© contradictions aside, seems pretty clear to me.)
This is classic "reading in" interpretation, personal sin became species sin, an abhorrent concept, un-jewish and a product of the pessimistic doomsday loons of 1st century Judea. "We're all sinners, so it must be inherent." You can see how it developed, and they probably nicked Jesus off the pagan savour figures, and enviable, care-free, non-sin philosophies of the Greeks/Romans etc and just imported the idea to save them from the sin their paranoia and judgmental attitudes had created.
Man this religious deconstruction thing writes itself.
We also didn’t get "separated" from god, as the bible clearly shows examples of god being very close to us, via his prophets and intervention. +Plus we re-join him after Sheol, in the Jewish heaven, in a far more conjoined state there than any xtian vision. So Jesus only "saves" from something that was invented after he died, and in order to be converted you have to buy the thing we supposedly needed saving from before you except his sacrifice. Xtiany was able to get the "sin" idea so excepted that it's taken for granted and not everybody knows it's a purely theological concept. It's just a step to then believing you can be saved from it by this idol they offer, and people get so trapped in this series of theological assumptions, that many belief for fear of hell, not realising that without one you are free from the other. A lie to sell a lie, a self enclosed universe of deception, all created by xtians, with no Jewish legitimacy. They never felt they needed any such saviour from any such sin, or hell, or immanent wroth, they were just looking forward to a new king (and of course still are).
They were waiting for physical deliverance not spiritual salvation, a very different idea, and one that shows the falsehood of the development of christology. The inventors of xtianity were just adding layers of theological significance after their leader died. Giving him a greater status, and purpose, but still only in concepts and only in the margins, as his earthly life (according to the gospels) for all it's exaggerations (especially in Mat) was mediocre for it's time, both in teachings and in "miracles". When he snuffed it, they had to invent a whole new theology for the occasion.
No so called prophecy fore-fillment counts as they omit all the theological developments needed to make xtianity a cohesive cult. Without them, in purely Jewish terms, Jesus was a failed messiah, and just like all the others became a crucified rebel. But instead of being a martyr for the Jewish cause of liberation became first a martyr for a new philosophy/cult them a triumphant still-living saviour/god-incarnate, one hell of a promotion.
Each change taking it away from Jewish god concepts and messiah models, till we have an alien faith, more pagan that Jewish. And yet the xtians still claim the O.T.'s god and prophecies are continued by the N.T. events and theology, this is self evidently false, and the events of the Gospels taken at face value are not what the theology would have you believe.
Interpreting a failure as a success with just a few dodgey resurrection claims, and theological slight of hand failed to impress me as a kid, as I could see the incoherence of the events with the claims. To me Judaism is the best weapon we have against xtianity, (which is probably why the church persecuted them, they are the smoking gun) their theology demonstrates the fraud, as the discontinuity in ideas shows a morphing of one religion to another. A square peg (N.T.) in a round hole (O.T.) which begins with changing the meaning of the Eden story, and ends with Jesus being hailed as the king of the Jews. When he is in every way a pagan deity, a graven image that Gideon would have taken great pleasure in smashing to the ground.
